More Than 40 Amino Acids From Home

Assess essential, non-essential and conditionally essential amino acids involved
in protein metabolism, energy production, nitrogen disposal and neurotransmitter
synthesis.

The included Tasso+ device collects a small blood sample from your upper arm for
quantitative plasma amino-acid analysis by an accredited laboratory.

Profile: More than 40 plasma amino acids

Pathways: Protein nutrition, urea cycle, neurotransmitter
precursors and sulfur metabolism

Collection: Tasso+ device included

Sample: Minimum 150 µL plasma

Preparation: Morning fasting collection

Results: Typically within 5–7 working days after arrival

What Does This Test Assess?

Essential amino acids
Amino acids that must be obtained through the diet, including branched-chain
and aromatic amino acids required for protein synthesis and metabolic regulation.

Non-essential and conditionally essential amino acids
Amino acids normally synthesized by the body but whose requirements may change
during growth, illness, metabolic stress or reduced nutritional intake.

Urea-cycle intermediates
Arginine, citrulline and ornithine participate in the conversion and removal of
nitrogen produced during amino-acid metabolism.

Neurotransmitter precursors
Phenylalanine, tyrosine, tryptophan, glutamate, glutamine and related compounds
participate in pathways associated with catecholamines, serotonin and GABA.

Sulfur and methylation pathways
Methionine, cysteine and related amino acids contribute to methyl-group transfer,
transsulfuration and glutathione synthesis.

Important Amino-Acid Groups

Branched-chain amino acids – BCAAs
Leucine, isoleucine and valine support muscle protein synthesis and participate
in energy and glucose metabolism.

Glutamine, glutamate and GABA
These compounds participate in nitrogen transport, cellular metabolism and
excitatory-inhibitory biochemical pathways.

Glycine and serine
Contribute to one-carbon metabolism, nucleotide synthesis, glutathione production
and connective-tissue proteins.

Taurine
Supports bile-acid conjugation, osmoregulation, membrane stability and antioxidant
or cellular-protective processes.

Why Test Amino Acids in Plasma?

Plasma amino acids provide a circulating snapshot of dietary absorption, endogenous
synthesis, tissue uptake, protein turnover and amino-acid clearance.

Plasma testing differs from urine testing, which primarily reflects amino-acid
excretion. Standardized fasting collection helps reduce the influence of a recent
meal and improves comparability between results.

When Can This Test Be Useful?

  • Restricted or low-protein dietary intake
  • Digestive or nutrient-absorption concerns
  • Persistent fatigue or reduced physical recovery
  • Muscle loss or increased metabolic demand
  • Liver, kidney or nitrogen-metabolism concerns
  • Monitoring amino-acid or protein supplementation
  • Further evaluation of an abnormal metabolic pattern

Simple Home Collection

1. Receive your kit
We deliver the complete Tasso+ collection kit directly to your home.

2. Prepare for collection
Fast overnight and collect your sample in the morning before breakfast.

3. Collect from your upper arm
Place the Tasso+ device on your upper arm and press the button. A small blood
sample is collected automatically.

4. Return your sample
Pack the tube using the supplied protective materials and return it promptly
according to the enclosed instructions.

Before Collection

Fast for 8–12 hours before collection. Water is allowed. Collect in the morning
after a normal day of eating rather than after an unusually high-protein meal.

Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours before collection because exercise can
temporarily alter amino-acid utilisation and protein turnover.

Unless medically required, avoid protein powders, amino-acid products and related
supplements for 48 hours before collection. Do not stop prescribed medication
without medical guidance.

Understanding Your Results

Your report presents more than 40 amino acids together with measurement units
and laboratory reference intervals.

Amino acids should be interpreted as interconnected patterns rather than isolated
high or low values. Diet, fasting duration, exercise, liver and kidney function,
medication and recent illness may all influence the profile.

An abnormal pattern does not independently diagnose an inherited metabolic disorder.
Significant abnormalities may require confirmation using a conventional venous
plasma sample and evaluation by an appropriate metabolic specialist.

More than 40 amino acids in one connected metabolic profile.
