This test measures total and direct bilirubin levels in the blood to assess liver function and detect conditions such as jaundice, liver disease, or bile duct obstruction. Bilirubin is a yellow pigment produced during the breakdown of red blood cells, and abnormal levels may indicate liver dysfunction or hemolysis.
