Redox & Glutathione Insight – Oxidative Stress + Complete Glutathione Status

€ 169,00

Measure oxidative damage together with glutathione defence

The Redox & Glutathione Insight panel combines the Oxidative Stress Profile with Total Glutathione and Reduced and Oxidized Glutathione. This provides a coordinated assessment of oxidative DNA and lipid damage, antioxidant reserve and glutathione redox balance.

Why combine these measurements?

Oxidative stress is not adequately described by a single marker. Evidence of oxidative damage indicates that biological targets have been affected, while antioxidant measurements provide information about the systems available to maintain redox balance. Measuring only oxidative damage does not show whether glutathione reserve is adequate, and measuring glutathione alone does not establish whether oxidative DNA or lipid damage is present.

This combined panel separates three clinically relevant questions: Is there measurable oxidative damage? What is the total glutathione pool? How is that pool distributed between reduced and oxidized forms? Reviewing these findings together provides a more coherent picture of oxidative burden and antioxidant response.

Included assessment 1

Oxidative Stress Profile

Measures 8-hydroxy-2′-deoxyguanosine (8-OHdG) as a marker of oxidative DNA damage together with lipid peroxides as an assessment of oxidative damage affecting lipids and cellular membranes.

Included assessment 2

Total Glutathione

Assesses the overall glutathione pool, providing information about one of the body’s major intracellular antioxidant and redox-buffering systems.

Included assessment 3

Reduced & Oxidized Glutathione

Measures reduced glutathione (GSH) and oxidized glutathione (GSSG). Their distribution and ratio, where reported, provide additional information about glutathione redox status.

What the combined panel evaluates

Oxidative DNA damageUrinary 8-OHdG provides a focused marker associated with oxidative modification and repair of DNA.
Lipid peroxidationLipid peroxide measurement provides information about oxidative injury affecting lipids and cellular membranes.
Glutathione reserveTotal glutathione adds information about the size of the measured glutathione antioxidant pool.
Redox balanceReduced and oxidized glutathione help assess how the measured glutathione pool is distributed between GSH and GSSG.

Clinical perspective

Burden versus defence: Oxidative-damage markers are interpreted alongside the measured glutathione pool rather than being considered in isolation.
DNA and membrane context: 8-OHdG and lipid peroxides represent different biological targets and may not change in parallel.
Glutathione redox state: GSH and GSSG measurements add information that cannot be obtained from total glutathione alone.
Monitoring: The combined panel may be useful before and after a clinically supervised nutritional, lifestyle or exposure-reduction programme when testing conditions are standardised.
Responsible interpretation: Oxidative and glutathione markers are influenced by illness, inflammation, medication, smoking, exercise, diet, supplement use and sample handling.

Who may consider this panel?

  • People with persistent fatigue, reduced resilience or slow recovery
  • Individuals with chronic inflammatory or metabolic concerns
  • People with significant environmental, occupational or lifestyle exposure concerns
  • Individuals focused on preventive health, healthy ageing or longevity
  • Clients monitoring a clinician-supervised antioxidant or lifestyle programme
  • Practitioners seeking both oxidative-damage and antioxidant-response information

Sample requirements

8-OHdG: urine collected according to the supplied Oxidative Stress Profile kit instructions.

Lipid peroxides: blood specimen collected using the materials specified by WHL.

Glutathione: dedicated blood specimen(s) for total, reduced and oxidized glutathione.

Important: glutathione redox measurements are highly sensitive to collection, processing time and ex vivo oxidation. Collection must be coordinated with WHL in advance.

Preparation and collection

  1. Follow the dedicated urine and blood collection instructions supplied by WHL.
  2. Avoid unnecessary antioxidant supplements before testing unless WHL or your treating professional advises otherwise.
  3. Do not stop prescribed medication or medically required supplements without professional advice.
  4. Provide a current list of medication, antioxidant products, glutathione, NAC and other supplements.
  5. For follow-up testing, use similar fasting, exercise, supplement and collection conditions where possible.
  6. Return specimens using the required packaging, temperature and shipping conditions without delay.

What you receive

You receive laboratory results for 8-OHdG, lipid peroxides, total glutathione, reduced glutathione and oxidized glutathione, with reference information and interpretive comments where applicable. Approximate turnaround is 7–10 working days after all acceptable specimens have arrived. Professional interpretation is recommended to assess the relationship between oxidative burden, glutathione reserve and redox balance.

Related and complementary tests

Organic Acids TestAdds urinary metabolites associated with energy production, glutathione demand, detoxification and nutrient-dependent pathways.
Vitamin Panel 16Adds direct measurement of antioxidant vitamins, carotenoids, Coenzyme Q10 and other nutritional cofactors.
Elements in Blood IIIAdds selenium, zinc, copper, manganese and selected potentially toxic elements relevant to redox-related pathways.
Important: This panel supports biochemical assessment of oxidative and glutathione-related markers. It does not diagnose the cause of oxidative stress, establish a specific disease or replace medical evaluation. Results require interpretation with symptoms, clinical history, medication, supplement use, lifestyle, exposure history and sample quality.
