About WHL

Our history began in 1993

World Health Laboratories was originally founded in 1993 by Dr. Emar Vogelaar, as the European Laboratory of Nutrients (ELN) in Bunnik the Netherlands. In 1995 Vitamin Diagnostics in South Amboy joined our organization to provide better service both in U.S. and Europe.

Why measure nutrients?
Dr. Vogelaar discovered durings his studies Biochemistry the impact of nutrients on our health. Over the years that he developped his professional career, he became more and more convinced that nutrients are essential for good health. Since they are crucial parts of many kinds of biochemical conversions in the body, such as enzyme reactions. Deficiency or excess of nutrients can lead to a decreased function of several (organ)systems and the human body as a whole.

Before complaints and diseases become manifest, disturbances in the nutrient balance can already be detected. Measuring the nutrient status has therefore an important preventive and diagnostic role. Based on nutrient analysis, a dietary or nutritional supplement therapy can be applied, specified to the individual situation.

Nutrient measurements also contribute to the follow-up of a patient and can be used to check the effects of a therapy.

Our lab locations

World Health Laboratories started almost 30 years ago with our first laboratory in Bunnik, the Netherlands.

Originally specialised in blood research, we soon adapted other testing methods to analyse the homeostasis of the body. Today we have over 150 testing procedures, that tell us exactly when your health is compromised.

Januari 2017 we changed our name from ELN to World Health Laboratories (WHL) with our European laboratory still in Bunnik, the Netherlands.

Supplements

Vital Cell Life
Our years of experience with nutrient research has led us to apply our knowledge and experience to the development of specific supplements. That we brand under the name of Vital Cell Life. In the past years this activity has become completely independent in our subsidiary World Health Supplements.  Where we also produce supplements for third parties under white label.

WHL and WHS work closely together to ensure the quality of these supplements. Which means that batches of supplements are subject to strict supervision of the controls carried out by WHL.

A name change in 2014

A name change because of fault software
Both companies changed names recently, because of a dispute with the Dutch Insurance companies. ELN was brought to court and accused of falsifying declarations to the insurance companies. For several years we were forced into costly lawsuits only to proof these were false accusations. It turned out that a fault in the software used and designed by the insurance companies produced a declaration mistake. Finally, in 2018 we won all lawsuits and our name was cleared.

In the process we lost a lot of our customers and things looked Grimm for a very long time. We had to make the hard decision to start over in order to keep the companies alive. This was the reason we also had to change our names from ELN to World Health Laboratories (WHL) in 2017 and Vitamin Diagnostics became Health Diagnostics Research Institute (HDRI)

Our name is cleared!
With all accusations now dropped, we can look at the future again. Both companies are advanced laboratories for testing the nutrient status of particularly humans. The need for solid data on how nutrients are actually used in the body has more than ever the  attention of many researchers and patients.
Our laboratories provide a worldwide service to patients, MD’s, hospitals and institutions with interest in nutritional medicine.
