3. Confirm and create the sample code

The information is used by TMS and WHL to register the request, identify the serum sample and handle testing. The request and code are emailed to TMS and WHL. Read the privacy policy.

A code is issued after the patient’s request has been saved.

Collection guidance

Collection kits

WHL supplies serum collection tubes, serum transfer tubes, labels, protective packaging, UPS Clinical Pak, return label and ice packs in a bulk shipment to TMS. You do not need to buy the tubes separately.

Reduce PFAS contamination

Use only WHL-supplied or WHL-approved materials. Work on a clean surface, use fresh gloves, keep tubes capped when possible and avoid contact with unapproved fluoropolymer or PTFE materials. Follow the detailed WHL collection instructions.

Serum preparation

This test requires serum. Allow the blood to clot in the collection tube, centrifuge according to the supplied instructions, then transfer serum to the supplied transfer tube. Keep the same patient code on both tubes. Do not freeze unseparated whole blood.

Temperature and storage

Under WHL’s general collection guidance, separated serum is generally stable at room temperature for at least 24 hours. Refrigeration at 2–8 °C is preferred. Separated serum may be stored at −20 °C for at least six months. Follow any sample-specific instructions supplied by WHL.

Several clinic days, one pickup

You may collect over consecutive days and return samples together. Separate and freeze each day’s serum at −20 °C until packing, then use the supplied ice packs for chilled return transport. Keep request forms in the separate document compartment.

Shipping and turnaround

UPS clinical shipping can be arranged by WHL. The indicative courier charge is approximately €40 per package; final shipping and handling costs depend on the service and whether returns are bulk or individual.

Turnaround time is confirmed by WHL for your clinic batch.
