Organic Acids Test

Elements in Blood III.
Together, they provide complementary information about metabolic pathway activity,
nutrient-dependent enzyme function, mineral balance and exposure to potentially toxic elements.
Why combine these two tests?
Organic-acid patterns can indicate where metabolic pathways may be under strain,
but they do not always explain why a pattern is present. Many biochemical reactions
depend on minerals such as magnesium, zinc, copper, selenium and manganese.
Potentially toxic elements may also interfere with enzyme activity, mitochondrial
function and antioxidant defence.
Assessing both perspectives in one panel gives the practitioner a more clinically
coherent view. It can help determine whether an organic-acid finding should be
considered alongside cofactor availability, increased metabolic demand or possible
element-related interference.
Organic Acids Test
Measures more than 95 urinary metabolites associated with mitochondrial
energy production, nutrient-dependent pathways, detoxification, oxalate
metabolism, neurotransmitter metabolism and selected microbial metabolites.
Elements in Blood III
Measures essential minerals and trace elements together with selected
potentially toxic elements. It adds biochemical context related to enzyme
function, antioxidant defence, electrolyte balance and environmental exposure.
Clinical perspective
Krebs-cycle and energy-related metabolites can be reviewed alongside minerals
involved in enzymatic reactions and cellular energy production.
Functional organic-acid markers can be interpreted together with directly
measured mineral and trace-element status.
Metabolites associated with glutathione demand and detoxification can be
considered alongside selenium, zinc, copper and potentially toxic elements.
Combining the results may help distinguish a possible cofactor limitation from
increased metabolic demand, dietary influences or element-related interference.

Sample requirements
Organic Acids: approximately 10 mL first-morning midstream
urine, collected using the supplied kit.
Elements III: venous blood and serum collected by a qualified
blood-draw professional using the supplied materials.
Shipping: suitable for postal submission when the supplied
collection, storage and shipping instructions are followed.
Preparation and collection
- Use a first-morning urine sample for the Organic Acids Test.
- Avoid apples, grapes, pears, raisins, cranberries and wine for 48 hours before urine collection.
- Unless advised otherwise, avoid nutritional supplements for three days before collection.
- Do not stop prescribed medication unless instructed by your treating physician.
- Follow the supplied kit instructions for identification, storage and return shipping.
What you receive
You receive laboratory reports with measured results and reference ranges for
both component tests, together with interpretive comments where applicable.
