Cellular Nutrition Insight – RBC Fatty Acids + Plasma Amino Acids

€ 229,00

A combined blood assessment of red-blood-cell fatty acids and more than 40 plasma amino acids. It evaluates membrane-related lipid patterns alongside circulating amino-acid availability for an integrated view of cellular nutrition, metabolic substrates and nutritional balance.

Assess two essential foundations of cellular nutrition

The Cellular Nutrition Insight panel combines the Essential Fatty Acids – RBCs Quantitative test with the Plasma Amino Acids profile. Together, they evaluate membrane-related fatty-acid patterns and the circulating amino-acid pool used in protein synthesis and many metabolic pathways.

Why combine these two tests?

Fatty acids and amino acids are fundamental nutritional components with different but complementary biological roles. Fatty acids contribute to cell-membrane structure, lipid signalling and the formation of inflammatory and resolving mediators. Amino acids provide substrates for protein synthesis and participate in pathways involving muscle metabolism, the urea cycle, neurotransmitter precursors, methylation and antioxidant defence.

Combining the tests gives a broader view than either profile alone. The red-blood-cell fatty-acid profile provides information that generally reflects a longer nutritional and metabolic time frame, while plasma amino acids provide a more immediate view of the circulating amino-acid pool and are more sensitive to recent intake and metabolic state.

Included test 1

Essential Fatty Acids – RBCs Quantitative

Measures omega-3, omega-6, omega-7, omega-9 and saturated fatty acids in red blood cells. The report includes individual fatty acids and clinically useful patterns or ratios such as the omega-3 index, AA/EPA and omega-6/omega-3 balance.

Included test 2

Plasma Amino Acids

Measures more than 46 essential, conditionally essential and non-essential amino acids in plasma. The profile provides information about the circulating amino-acid pool, dietary and metabolic patterns, urea-cycle intermediates and selected biochemical precursors.

What the combined panel evaluates

Membrane lipidsQuantitative omega fatty acids and saturated fatty acids measured in the red-blood-cell fraction.
Amino-acid availabilityEssential, conditionally essential and non-essential amino acids present in the circulating plasma pool.
Nutritional patternsProfiles that can be considered in relation to diet, absorption, supplementation and overall nutritional intake.
Metabolic relationshipsFatty-acid ratios and amino-acid patterns relevant to cellular structure, biochemical signalling and metabolic substrate availability.

Clinical perspective

Different biological time frames: RBC fatty acids generally reflect longer-term fatty-acid status, whereas plasma amino acids are more affected by recent intake, fasting state and current metabolism.
Structural and functional nutrition: Fatty acids contribute to cell membranes and lipid mediators, while amino acids provide building blocks for proteins and multiple biochemical compounds.
Dietary adequacy: The combined pattern may be useful when reviewing restrictive diets, low protein intake, omega-fatty-acid intake or nutrition programmes.
Recovery and performance context: Amino-acid availability and membrane fatty-acid balance can be considered alongside training load, muscle recovery, energy intake and clinical history.
Responsible interpretation: Neither profile alone measures dietary intake, tissue protein turnover, inflammation or neurological function directly; results require clinical correlation.

Who may consider this panel?

  • People following vegan, vegetarian, ketogenic or otherwise restrictive diets
  • Individuals concerned about protein or essential-fatty-acid balance
  • Athletes and active individuals evaluating nutrition and recovery
  • People with persistent fatigue, reduced stamina or slow recovery
  • Clients monitoring dietary or nutritional interventions
  • Practitioners seeking a broader assessment of circulating amino acids and membrane-related lipids

Sample requirements

RBC Fatty Acids: whole blood; the individual test specifies a minimum sample volume of 5 mL.

Plasma Amino Acids: venous blood collected and processed to plasma using the supplied collection requirements.

Collection: the required tubes, processing and shipping conditions should be confirmed with WHL before blood collection.

Preparation and collection

  1. An overnight fast of approximately 8–12 hours is recommended for a standardised plasma amino-acid assessment; water is allowed.
  2. Provide a current list of protein powders, amino-acid products, omega-3 supplements, other supplements and medication.
  3. Do not stop prescribed medication or medically required supplements unless advised by your treating professional.
  4. Maintain your usual diet before testing unless WHL or your practitioner provides different instructions.
  5. Follow the supplied collection, processing, labelling, storage and shipping instructions.

What you receive

You receive quantitative laboratory reports for the red-blood-cell fatty-acid and plasma amino-acid profiles, including measured values and reference ranges. The RBC fatty-acid component typically requires 3–5 working days after sample arrival; WHL will confirm the current completion time for the full combined panel when ordered. Professional interpretation can be arranged where required.

Related and complementary tests

Vitamin Panel 16Adds direct information about vitamins, active coenzyme forms, antioxidants, Coenzyme Q10 and carnitine.
Organic Acids TestAdds urinary metabolites associated with energy production, nutrient-dependent pathways and selected microbial metabolism.
Elements in Blood IIIComplements the panel with essential mineral cofactors, trace elements and selected potentially toxic elements.
Important: This panel supports biochemical and nutritional assessment. It does not by itself diagnose a disease, determine the cause of symptoms or replace medical evaluation. Results should be interpreted together with fasting status, recent diet, supplement use, medication, symptoms and other relevant investigations.
